Southwest Gas Corporation Donates $40,000 to Rebuild HELP of Southern Nevada Office

Jul 11, 2023Jul 11, 2023

Southwest Gas Corporation has made a generous donation of $40,000 to HELP of Southern Nevada to assist in the rebuilding of its social service office. The office was severely damaged in a fire two summers ago, but through the support of Southwest Gas and its Fire Fund, the first floor has already been rebuilt. This has allowed HELP to expand its homeless outreach program and serve an additional 500 clients each year.

The donation from Southwest Gas reaffirms its commitment to supporting local communities and building a better future. Justin Brown, President of Southwest Gas Corporation, emphasizes the importance of providing additional support to those in need, helping individuals transition to self-sufficiency, and combating homelessness in southern Nevada.

Southwest Gas has been a long-standing partner to HELP, particularly through their Energy Share program. This emergency fund provides utility assistance to customers facing unexpected financial difficulties. Since 2019, the program has positively impacted over 3,200 households, providing assistance with utility bills, water heater replacements, and repairs.

In addition to Energy Share, Southwest Gas and HELP collaborate on a weatherization program. This program focuses on improving the energy efficiency of homes for seniors, people with disabilities, and families with young children. Southwest Gas contributes the necessary natural gas appliances for these improvements, helping to reduce energy consumption, lower utility bills, and improve affordability.

HELP of Southern Nevada is grateful for the ongoing support from Southwest Gas, whether it be through funding, volunteer hours, or advocacy. They acknowledge the significant impact that Southwest Gas has made in helping individuals and families in need.
