GREENFIELD

Vera M. (Davis) Hamilton was born on December 21, 1929, in Morristown, Indiana to Harry Davis and Bertha (Lane) Davis and died on August 3, 2023, in Greenfield, Indiana at the age of 93 after a seven year residence at Springhurst Health Campus, first in independent living, then assisted living, and finally in nursing care.

An only child, she achieved her aspirations of a long marriage and a large family. She married Russell E. Hamilton on July 5, 1947, and together they had six children, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A homemaker, Vera attended Morristown High School and was a life-long reader even when she had to listen to books on tape because of her macular degeneration. She enjoyed family activities the most and was a sharp card player. Her many interests included canning vegetables from their garden, cross stitch, playing board games, bird watching, and genealogy. She was especially fond of watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and the Lawrence Welk Show. After her husband’s death, she lived independently for many years, mowing her own large yard until she was 87.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Miller (Bernie), Leslie Hamilton (Vickie), Dennis Hamilton (Trudy), Debbie Hamilton, David Hamilton (Teresa), and Ann Slaven (Jeff), her grandchildren Paige Codalata (Jon), Blake Miller, Jim Hamilton (Sherrie), Kelly Hamilton, Ginger Hamilton, Ashley Hamilton, Parker Slaven, and Lauren Slaven, and 12 great grandchildren.

A private burial service will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Stillinger Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Family of Vera Hamilton. www.stillingerfamily.com.
